AUM
Samarpanam - Guru PoojaThe Guru Pooja funtion for Samarpanam was celebrated on 23 July 06. 36 of us took part in this celebration.
The function started at sharp 10.30 AM. The function began with hoisting of Bhagavth Dwaja (The safforn flag). Members then offered their humble pranams to the flag together with their Samarpanam.
Then we had a inspiring Solo Song (Kaavi Kodiye Em Gurudeva) by Sri Satish Srivatsan, CTS depicting the importance significance for which the flag stands for.
Sri Sankar, Vibagh Pracharak, RSS then addressed the gathering.
Following is the summary of his address...
It has been more than 80 years since Sangh was started. And Sangh was not started with great individuals but with children in the teen age group. Its a practise in our tradition to offer salutations to Guru on the day of Guru Purnima. Sangh decided to celebrate Guru Pooja and evry Swayam sevak was so eager to offer Guru Dakshina to Doctorji.
But Doctorji had other plans. He Upheld the Bhagavath Dwaja and asked Swyamsevak to offer their Dakshina to that. Every one got surprised. And Doctorji replied, every human being have flaws and every thought propagated by a Great saint is opposed by some other school of thought. That has been the case of our history.
Sangh is open to all. Not just to one School of thought or followers of a Great person. So We should offer Dakshina to Bhagavt Dwaja which resembles all great Saints and Rishis. So let us all together offer our Salutations to Bhagava Dwaja.
So now comes the question of how come a flag be a Guru. Guru is some one who preaches and makes others to follow his preachings. How does this flag preach? What does this preach?
So is it mandatory that, that which speak and propagate can alone teach. We have got the Sun which rises and sets then comes back does its duty without any rest. If some one learns something from Sun all because of Sun's nature of relentless work then to him it is Guru.
Like wise river, mountain etc., which may inspire some one to his work can be his Guru. We have Ekalvya as an example.
So this Bhagavath Dwaja when seen resembles all the sacrifice, valuor and wisdom of our Bharatha and hence our Guru.
Sri Shankarji appelaed to each one of us to give more and more time to Samarpanam. He also cited several examples in day-to-day life in and around Chennai who had done great job in service without anything in hand. Notable among them is the example of a simple gardener who is now running a home for under-priveledged kids in Chennai.
We have among ourselves have a member who has resigned his Lucrative job and is now Serving as a full time worker in Pondichery, Sri Muthu.
An appeal was made out to each member to contribute One full week within this year.
Then we had a group song. Other members offered their Guru dakshina during this time.
The Guru Puja function concluded with Sangh Prarthana.
