Infact He has sent Histeam of priests on behalf of the Matham to many suchMandirs forconsecration ceremonies. I am a witness to it as I hadthe privilege ofvisiting such Mandirs along with him and His naturalbenevolence to thedeprived people becomes evident even to a non-bhaktaof this wonderfulMatham.When more such backwards were gravitating towards Himthe christists saw aserious threat to their designs of the evangelical -proselytisation.TIRUMALA has always been a magnetic force thatattracted both the veryaffluent and the very poor. And Bhagawan Balaji is thegreatest symbol as aHindu institution. Therefore, the likes of AntoniaMaino and SamuelRajasekhar have teamed up with evangelists to devaluethis institution inthe eyes of the Hindu pilgrim devotees. And the recentspate of conversionsin this holy town, the plan to shrink its extent to 2hills and the backdooroffer of entry to church constructions in the forestarea of the hill thathas appropriated by the government since the days ofthe British Raj,appointment of other than Hindus to head the TTDinstitutions, retainingnon-Hindus in sensitive TTD posts, diverting TTD moneyfor government's'secular' projects, deputing officials who are eitheraethists, communistsor secularists for TTD posts from the government,having a card-holdingcommie as the head of the TTD Staff Training collegeetc., all standtestimony to the devaluing of this great Hinduinstitution.SABARIMALA- Majority (almost 80%) of the pilgrims arefrom very weak anddeprived section of Hindu society. The evangelicalproselytisers aredeprived of their chunk of the target audience becauseAyyappa is attractingmore of them each year, year after year. So targetingthe tantri or making ahue and cry of a women's presence in the Sanctum is away tried by thechristists to shake the faith and belief system ofthese simple HinduBhaktas. The press and electronic media goes to townas it does on everyHindu-bashing exercise. Most of these people do noteven know the geographyof the territory or have a first hand experience of aspiritual journey toSabarimala.A pilgrimage to Sabarimala is a very uniqueexperience. I have made 27 suchpilgrimages in my life. The 'Vrata Anushtanam" of thebhakta and theinvolvement of the entire family including thewomenfolk in enabling thebhakta to stick to his Vrata and the Nithya Pujas, thebringing together ofthe Ayyappa Bhaktas for Bhajans and Annadanam, unlikein other piligrimages,the lack of distinction in caste in the group ofAyyappa devotees are allmajor factors in bringing Hindus into a congregation.This is one spiritualjourney where the distinction in caste is lost indevotion to the deity.The Press and the Sound Byeting channels never care toexamine andinvestigate if it impossible for a Jayamala or a JyotiLaxmi to have touchedthe Vigraha, unless ofcourse, they would now try toshift their stand bysaying that the maligned Tantri indeed allowed herinto the sanctum andtouch the Bhagawan because she promised to pay him inkind !!!Who knows, they might even say this tomorrow.Because, the media today is a Hindu-bashing bastard.And hopefully, verysoon will start searching for the truth.The truth of its parentage.Namaste,S V Badri
